All You Ever Want to Know About the Honor System.
"Many months ago I started looking into the pvp system. I gathered data, tried to find more information as I was working toward a higher rank myself. I now feel that I understand the pvp system very well and I can make a definite post about its intricacy. This guide will attempt to explain how the pvp system works as a whole. How you gain rank, the important of standing, the impact of honor decay, and everything else. Credits: First thing first, credit where it is due. HighRfrequenC (from those very boards) was extremely useful in finding information. He eventually found a post on the main blizzard forum by Jargar from the Bloodhoof realm which had a metric ton of information about the pvp system. The reason why I am writting this guide is because Allakhazam simply doesn't have a guide on the topic and I'm hoping to have one guide with all the answers, rather then multiple forum threads. All the information in here mostly come from somewhere else and I've only gathered it into one guide and cross referenced the date with the one I had gathered. So with that being said, HighRfrequenC from Allakhazam, Jargar from Bloodhoof (even tho we never spoke), I salute you :), you guys did most of the work. Sources: thread.asp...post5286625 - Jargar's original thread. How do I gain rank. The quick answer is that you gain Rank by gaining Honor. Your amount of honor is then compared to all those on your faction on the server to determine your standing for the week. Depending on your standing you will then gain a certain amount of 'rating' point - the higher your standing, the more rating point you gain. You also lose some rating point to 'decay', as long as you gain more rating point from your standing then you lose from decay, you will progress into the pvp system.
As you reach a certain amount of rating point, you will be promoted to the next rank. That's the jist of it... but it truly doesn't explain all that much, now does it. I'll be breaking down the information above, and hopefully by the end, everybody will understand. How do I gain Honor. You gain rank by gaining Honor.
